There's mods that do help with things like traffic (changing the balance), but to my knowledge none that fix the "bursty budget" problem, at least none that I heard of.First, you need to choose the right map for your city. This is normal and can't really be fixed. Note that even a perfectly running industry will always fluctuate your budget, since you get a significant influx of cash when products are sold and just carry the high cost of the industry and factories when they are producing. Note that these storages are traffic hotspots, so don't place them all just in one area or on one road. If they are (not just for a second, but over a longer period), add more of that storage or replace with bigger storage of that type. A good indicator of needing more storage is that all trucks of the storages you have are in use. You should also have plenty of storage for the "base product" of that industry type (grain silo/barn for farming, Log yard/dust storage for forestry, oil tanks for oil, sand/ore storage for ore). As long as everything is in one place putting it on "balanced" is fine. Basically you should have (at least) one warehouse for every intermediate product, usually more if you also use that product more.

Since I got no screenshots or anything to work off of, I can just give some general tips. With a good base it would be much easier.

If not, then maybe some crazy modder will make it. I for one hope hope CCO pay attention to this aspect of the game for CS2 as it'll add some depth to the train systems. With good plan, probably more than half year of work for single person to create more or less working base implementation(very, very optimistic scenario) :D Would be nice to have tools to test possible scenarios in isolation, outside regular simulation (guess who would have to make one), and so on :)

A lot of areas where modder/developer can introduce a lot of weird bugs, so. I'm not sure if Pathfinding would not have to be changed also.

One of the reasons I didn't do anything in that matter is I didn't have much free time to play with prototyping.Ĭ:S does not have track occupation "signal" implemented, so that would have to be the first thing to create, as a foundation for further changes and improvements. I've been playing Factorio, it's great game and like you've said train network management is game-within-game not to mention about circuit network. Thhy used it as inspiration and the basis for their own signalling system. It works so well simply because they acknowledged OpenTTD's system haad stood the test of time and done it right. You guys have given this game so much life beyond it's vanilla foundations that we're all thankful for it.įactorio is an amazing game, but the whole mini game within it, trains and signaling brings almost as much pleasure as running an efficient factory simply becuase it's a pleasure to see trains entering train waiting areas, moving on to pick up stuff in an orderly fashion, crossing intersections, avoiding deadlocks, green and red lights operating as the rail and chain signals do their job, all becuase you've laid out an efficinet signaling network.

If a varied spread of great mod creators like yourself hadn't done it before now, there had to be logical reasons for it.
